After enjoying great success as a Windsurfing school, 5 years ago Wind n Water expanded into Kitesurfing, and is now one of the longest running and most successful kiteboarding schools in Australia.
And now in 2008 we have moved into Surfing!
Over 30 years ago I rode my first surfboard, at the old missigham bridge in the Richmond river Ballina, it was an old single fin Graham King 6’2, paddled into my first wave (1 - 2 ft wave – it was huge for a 5 year old) jumped up…had the classic stance…fell off, and never looked back, my addiction and obsession for Surfing had begun!
I will never forget how stoked I was that day, standing on my surfboard and riding my first wave, and how much fun I had learning the coolest of all sports on the planet, as I aged I started to realize that not only have I developed love and obsession for the ocean, but an addiction to the ride!
So with all of these years of experience teaching water sports i have returned to my roots, teaching people how to surf, at windnwater we have the same approach to teaching surfing as to windsurfing or kitesurfing lessons: Best Instructors, best equipment, best conditions!
We specialize in private Surf lessons or Small personalized Groups 2 – 3 students max per instructor
You have the option to learn normal surfing or Stand Up Paddle Surfing.
Stand Up Paddle Surfing / Boarding
History: Back in the 60’s Beachboys in Waikiki Oahu Hawaii such as the Duke and Leroy AhChoy started paddling and surfing on big surfboards, cruising around the breaks, covering more area catching more waves, it caught on quickly with the other Beachboys and an era of stand up paddle surfing began. The sport later died out with the introduction of shorter and lighter surfboards, and a new era begun.
Recently the sport received a regeneration with the whole Retro surfing movement, guys in Hawaii like Dave Kalama, Laird Hamilton and other Makaha riders like Bruce DeSoto and Brian Keaulana began Stand Up Paddle Boarding again mainly for exercise and for fun! Realizing that it was a great core workout and excellent for developing reflexes and balance. Which complimented all the other water sports they were into such as surfing, tow in surfing, windsurfing, kitesurfing and what ever else they were into! So now a new era of SUPS has arrived.
